I woke up late again and had an 11:30 lunch meeting, so I skipped breakfast, again not a good idea!!!
Lunch: we had lunch at Portobella - a vegan restaurant- and I had a cup of lentil soup and a small pizza.
I drank 5 glasses of water! Wooohooo
Dinner: 2 beef tamales with rice and beans side dishes - I could have eaten only half of it, but I didn't :(
Late Dinner: after working out I was hungry again so I had sliced tomatoes and cucumbers with feta cheese and half a flat bread.
Exercise: Callanetics evolution - today I pushed myself through 35 reps of each ab exercise. Initially I could do only 10-15. Ill hopefully work my way up to the full 75 reps.
Today, I was thinking about a friend of mine who lost 40 lb for her wedding years ago by eating salads one day a week. So I want to give it a try! I want to make my Thursdays my salad day, but I don't think I can do lunch and dinner, so I'm just gonna make Thursdays a salad lunch day!!! I'll keep you posted on how it works out for me. I might buy a salad recipe book to keep it fun!
I drank tons of water today and feel good about it, but didn't eat any fruits. I might have an orange while watching TV tonight.
Hey :o) I sent you an email a while ago, but I finally had time to look through your blog. I had a really hard time with my eating at first.. especially since I don't like anything particularly healthy. I also did not like my back.. back fat.. that took a long time to go and I still have a little. Jogging and hula hooping have done wonders for tightening things up on me. Hula hooping will do amazing things for your shoulders, arms, back... at least that is all I can attribute it to since I do very little as far as spot toning or sculpting.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteHow did you get started on hula hooping?
I have tried it before, but I can't keep it going for more than a few seconds!!!! I'd appreicate any tips. BTW, I never got your email, otherwise I'd have replied.
Hey :o) I started hooping at my gym, but I got one for Christmas and now I do it in my garage also. I replied to the email on your cl post.. it's probably out in the nowhere now lol. I'll just copy what I wrote here:
ReplyDeleteHey there! I just saw your post on craigslist and scanned through your blog quickly. I live in Vancouver, so we aren’t too too far away from each other. I’ve lost around 100 lbs, 50 of that last year. How... diet and exercise... pure magic lol. My biggest advice for anyone is quit eating crap!!! And move your ass daily till you sweat. I’ve got some stuff to do right now but I wanted to email you while your post is fresh in my mind. I used to weigh probably 250... idk for sure because I was afraid of the scale lol. Today my scale says 142.6. I’d like to lose another 10-15 lbs or so, but I’ve been maintaining around 141 since before Christmas and I’m very happy about that. If you would like to get together for coffee or to go run with me sometime I’d be happy to share some of the things that have worked for me. No, I’m not selling anything lol... although I’m a big fan of hula hooping and I’m trying to find some good hoops to sell, but that’s a different issue. I would be happy to show you how great of a workout you can get hooping though.. I can’t believe what it’s done to tone me up.. and I do it in my garage, usually wearing a cowboy hat lol.
Anyway.. I’ve gone from a complete couch potato eating nothing but processed crap.. carbs and sugar galore!!! Now I eat very healthy and work out regularly... I hate this cold weather, I can’t wait to get out and jog on a regular basis again. I turned into a jogger!! Who ever knew I could move my fat ass that fast lol. I will tell you I’m very blunt and direct about how I feel about food and weight loss and all that.. I’m not a coddler, more of a drill sergeant if anything. And yes, have also been called a diet natzi. I’m ok with that... I have/had a huge sugar/carb addiction and I’m very careful to not sabotage myself or let other, well meaning people do that either. So, yes if you tell me you want to lose weight while shoving a burger down your gullet I’d probably ask what the hell you’re eating a burger for. If you can deal with that – let’s hang out sometime :o) It’s getting nice, maybe we can go for a hike or something. I don’t really talk when I’m jogging – I’m very focused and in my groove and talking kills that.. if that makes sense. But I am wanting to go do some trail hiking when it’s a little nicer... hills are great for tightening up the buns.. and running up them is fun too.
Oh... and if it matters I’m 42 and my kids are grown.. and a woman in case I didn’t add that up there lol.
Keep up the good work!!! I hope you have a great day :o)
Here’s my pitiful blog... I’m not much of a writer, but I needed a place to vent sometimes

I wrote that yesterday.. today my scale says 145.6! Yes, that's up THREE pounds overnight. Gah! I am going to they gym pronto!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day :o)
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI have done the whole low carb diet in the past, lost the weight, but I could not keep the weight off. That's why I don't want to be on any sort of diet this time. My goal is to eat all my favorite food and still loose weight.
I'm definitely gonna give hula hooping a try. I've heard good things about it in the past, tried it once, couldn't do it so never bought one. I'm gonna buy one this weekend. How much does your weigh????
You don't have to be on a diet, or low carb or no carb. I eat carbs all the time, every day. But I eat good complex carbs. I eat whole grains and avoid refined flour and sugar. Once you cut out the junk carbs and replace them with good ones, you will rev up your metabolisim (change it even!) and you will get better results from your workouts as your body will be getting the proper nutrition it needs to work efficiently. My favorite foods used to be Ice cream, pizza, all kinds of bread, donuts.. and then anything sweet like candy. The problem with eating this stuff is 1. it's what got me fat in the first place. If I were to keep eating it like I used to, I would have never lost anything ... which is why it took me 2 years to loose around 40 lbs. 2. I can have these things whenever I want them, they will always be there. Plus I've had more than my fair share of it to last me a life time. 3. I know how long it takes for me to burn off 100 calories and none of that stuff is worth erasing my hard work. 4. Eating foods with refined sugar/flour sets off my carb cravings like a mo-fo and just makes me want more of that crap for days till I get it out of my system. Its nothing but self-sabbotage if I eat stuff that will trigger me to just want more stuff that I know isn't going to help me achieve my goal of having a smaller ass.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is my taste has changed and so have the foods that I crave. Of course pms is a different story, but thats only a few days a month.
My hoop is probably about 3 lbs. I added water to it. I'd like to get another one for at home. When I'm at the gym I use two and it's about 5-6 lbs of hoop. I like using two better... it just feels like a better workout to me.
